Velveteen is a cotton fabric with short pile, an imitation of velvet.
Plain or twill weave ground and weft pile weave.
Cotton and cotton blends.
Dense, smooth, soft, short-cut pile. Moderate shine.

Firm hand, and a slightly sloping pile.
Does not drapes well.

Resembles velvet, but has weft pile weave (rather then warp pile weave), has greater body, does not drape as easily, and has less sheen. Similar corduroy, but the pile doesn’t form ribs.

Best use for:
Tailored jackets, pants, skirts and suits.
Interrior: drapes and home décor items
Suites for embroidery.
